Steve, thanks for responding. Yeah, I saw that study-- seems fairly hopeful. There's no published data on humans, alas. I hadn't heard of HSPPC-96; had been following the ICT107 and DCVax stories. I wish we could go with an autologous vaccine but unfortunately we're looking inoperable at this point :(.

Gbmbgone-- ICT-121? Thanks for the info. I'll make a note of it... in case we're able to hang around long enough for the Phase 1!

Southern, "dirty" is a phrase a professor of mine used to use-- "all drugs are dirty", he would say. He meant that in addition to healing properties, every drug also takes a toll of some kind... even aspirin. My sister's been on Avastin for seven months without side effects, so it's certainly possible. But if you might rate a drug as to the toll it takes on the body, I would have guessed that Avastin took a higher to...

Josh, I see you and I typed almost exactly the same words at almost exactly the same moment... it does seem weird about the avastin, doesn't it. Hi.

I don't have experience with a patient as old as 80, but from what I've read on the boards... wow, your mom is quite the fighter. It seems weird to me that they'd want to do the Avastin if there's no regrowth. I can only assume it's to deal with the edema (swelling). But while it's true Avastin controls edema, my impression is it's a "dirtier" drug than Dex. Granted that Dex is no picnic. If I were you I'd want to cl...

Steve, no, I've seen nothing to the contrary. There's a massive study ongoing, our NO suggests participating in it, but there seems to be no data reported yet.

Vicki, slurred speech is quite likely to be the tumors. But it could also be symptoms of a stroke. When's his next MRI? The loose teeth seems likely to be the avastin though-- though I haven't heard of it as a side effect. I know radiation can cause mouth problems too. When did he have the radiation? What's the dentist think?

Does anyone have experience with ABT-888? We're being offered it for a second recurrence. Already know what it is, just interested in hearing about anyone's experiences with it if they'd care to share. Thanks! (Oh, and unfortunately I can't open private messages. Not sure why.)
