Most people with prostate cancer do not have a recurrence, especially with low grade cancer. For those that have radiation with hormone treatment only 44% and 35% with surgery have a recurrence. I am sorry to hear of your situation however I would guess you had a Gleason of 7 or higher. Also from my understanding depending on the lab 0 and less than .01 are considered undetectable. Also there are other things you c...

Irene,  it sounds like there are too many docs and some are advising him wrong. There is no reason that he has to continue those nasty hormone shots, especially with all those side effects. He must realize he is in charge not the docs. have him research it, or get a second opinion. If he is cured the treatment should stop already! Dan

Normally for stage one prostate cancer radiation coupled with hormone therapy is usually two years, they also do the short form of hormone therapy which is for six months. Myself I was stage three. I was treated with radiation coupled with hormone therapy which I was suppose to get for six months , howerver due to unusual side effects I only had 3 months of hormone therapy. It sounds like someone is not telling the ...

Ray,   I had no idea that you were in that much pain, thank God you are no longer in pain. From your post I am not clear what alleviated the pain, black strap molasses and Bi-carb soda or the encapsulated Vitamin c and the apricots pits? Happy Holidays Dan

It never hurts to get a second opinion, In my case I got three opinions. In order to hit or exceed your doctor's prognosis( which exceeds the guidelines) you need to look into diet, life style changes, supplements, exercise and prayer, and not necesarily in that order. I am now approaching my 10 year anniversary of stage 3, of my advanced prostate cancer and still in total remission. My  two cents Happy Holid...

Unfortantely you should be concerned. It doesn't matter if it is in normal range, what is more important is the velocity. Since it has tripled I would seek out a Urologist to explore if something is going on. I had a friend that use to have a reading close to zero like yours and it went to 2. He had a biopsy and they found cancer. It might only be an infection however you need to rule that out.

Tom,   This is a borderline call. The so-called experts would tell you to treat it immediately.   With what I know especially with the nasty side effects incontinece and impotentcy I would do what I call aggressive survellance. Rather than just waiting and doing periodic DRE and PSA tests, I would do diet changes and take supplements and would watch my PSA go down and prove to them you can fight this dise...

Sorry to hear about your cancer. I have a couple of questions because you could be a candidate for active survellance and with diet and supplements to keep the cancer at bay forever. Personally I have been doing this for the last 9 years. What was your Gleason score and what are the percentage of cancer in the three positive core? First suggestion slow down and do your research first. Prostate cancer is one of the ...
