When you have stage 4 prostate cancer normally proton radiation is not the suggested treatment. Traditional medicine would be hormone treatment. Dan I suggest you look into alternative treatment too!

Mike,   This is what I have done for almost ten years. With what I know today I would also skip the treatment, however I am not suggesting that you do that, it is all your call. By changing your diet you have lowered your PSA, now all you need to do is add some real potent supplements to lower it more, like full spectrum pomegranate extract, turmeric, rosemary,  etc. www.IBeatCancerHolistically.com Hope ...

I meant to say, if you are not sure you want surgery you should postpone until you are sold on it. If you have doubt slow down and do further research until you feel comfortable with the decision. Don't let the doctor rush you! Dan

GabriellaP Absolutely right! Thanks for voicing that "don't let the doctor rush you" - so many people are frightened into taking radical decisions by the doctors they see. Its ok to take a little time and do your own research to find a solution that's the very best for YOU.

My first question did you do anything different to reduce your PSA like diet, supplements or lifestyle changes? My next comment is based traditional medicine. With a Gleason of 8 active survellance is not recommneded. Another point you should be aware of, just because they found no masses in the MRI and scan doesn't mean that the cancer hasn't escaped the prostate. These scans only pick up major masses not individua...

My diagnosis was similar to yours, all 12 cores had cancer up to 70% with a psa of 23 and a Gleason of 7. Even though the scans did not show any masses one doctor said it is a 100% Probability that the cancer has escaped on the left side. The scans only pick up masses not cancer cells. In your case it seems most likely the cancer is not contained to just the prostate it is most likeley in the prostate bed too! Surg...

As low grade as your cancer is I would do what I call aggressive active survellance where I watch my diet and take supplements. the odds are your cancer will never be life threatening. The side effects of any therapy isn't worth it, including proton radiation, Dan
