Never give up.  My husband was dx. in July 2011 and after chemo, radiation etc. and many complications,  a surgeon tried to do the whipple but the radiation had fused the tumor to the artery and they had to close him up.  .  He is now "stable" with no chemo and CA19 at 9.  He plays tennis and practices yoga.  We credit great doctors' care and also prayers. We have been to Lourdes once, a...

You are fortunate to live near such a good area for PC.  I would recommend Sloan Kettering.  You can call and make an appointment with an oncologist. We like Dr O'Reilly but I think they are all good.  I have also heard good things about the surgeon Dr Chabot from Columbia Presbyterian..Good luck

So sorry about your Dad. Get your Dad to the best cancer facility that you can.  Sloan, MD Anderson, Hopkins, if possible.Good luck and we will pray for you.  Research all you can so you can ask appropriate questions.  Take notes and go with him to all the doctors.  Family support is very important.

I know nothing about Cancer Centers but what about radiation. My husband had that at Slian and has been stable for 1 1/2 years. Good luck Dolores

Get a second opinion.  You might need whipple and chemo. I went to a talk by a NYC surgeon who said he did the whipple on a 90 year old woman.  Also go to the best place - NYC Sloan or MD Anderson.  You deserve the best and there are differences. I will pray for you. The stent will help. Have that done.

Congratulations. We are so happy for you and yes, prayers do help. I call my husband my miracle.  He was dx July 2011 and after folfirinox, radiaition, and gemcitibine, his ca-19 is 7. He has been off chemo since May 2012.  We pray everyday, especially to loved ones in heaven.  They tried the whipple but the radiation fused the tumor to the artieries.  Everyday he is grateful for another day. He p...

Contact Sloan in NYC or Hopkins in Baltimore.  He can have chemo and then it might pull away from the arteries.  Also, the chemo and radiation can do wonders. My husband was diagnosed in July 2011 and is doing well with only chemo and radiation. He is now on nothing and his CEA-19 is 8.  Also, pray and God is good.

I am so happy with your news. My husband is very similar to Annie's prognosis. Just chemo and radiation and no whipple. DX in July 2011 and he had the stent put in Aug. 2011 and thank God he is fine and playing tennis.

My husband was diagnosed with PC in July 2011. He had a stent put in then via the ERCP. He had a temporary stent put in as they thought they could do the whipple. Then after chemo and radiation they tried the whipple but the cancer was wrapped around arteries and they had to close him up. However, the surgeon said it had not spread and his CA 19 is 11. He is on no chemo and has been since May 2012. He still has the...

Emmend can be administered during the treatment and after. We took I think about 3 pills when my husband went home. It can cause hiccups. God bless and hope this helps.
