Contact Sloan in NYC or Hopkins in Baltimore.  He can have chemo and then it might pull away from the arteries.  Also, the chemo and radiation can do wonders. My husband was diagnosed in July 2011 and is doing well with only chemo and radiation. He is now on nothing and his CEA-19 is 8.  Also, pray and God is good.

I am so happy with your news. My husband is very similar to Annie's prognosis. Just chemo and radiation and no whipple. DX in July 2011 and he had the stent put in Aug. 2011 and thank God he is fine and playing tennis.

My husband was diagnosed with PC in July 2011. He had a stent put in then via the ERCP. He had a temporary stent put in as they thought they could do the whipple. Then after chemo and radiation they tried the whipple but the cancer was wrapped around arteries and they had to close him up. However, the surgeon said it had not spread and his CA 19 is 11. He is on no chemo and has been since May 2012. He still has the...

Emmend can be administered during the treatment and after. We took I think about 3 pills when my husband went home. It can cause hiccups. God bless and hope this helps.

The doctor told us that the time you have it is the same as the time it takes to go away. So if you had it for 2 weeks that is how long it will take to go away.

Please do not harbor regret or anger toward the physicians. The standard treatment is to have chemo before the whipple. The reality is that this cancer is terrible and our only hope is to find a cure or else better prevention. You did everything for your mother. Get involved in working for more money for research. My husband has PC and I thank God every day he is still alive.

Take heart. Yes, CT scan is only as good as the radiologist who reads it.  Also, your Dad might be able to have whipple at a later date  Yes, fight for funding and get involved with Pancan. They are a great source of inspiration and information. Also, go to the best hospital you can. That is key. My husband has had it since 7/11 and with only chemo and radiation his CA-19 is 11.  Keep praying.

Thanks for your reply.  Gene is on no treatment and will have a ct scan next week. We will do nothing if the numbers and ct scan is good. The surgeon at Sloan does not like the nanoknife but it is still an option for us if the numbers increase. Yes, keep praying. Gene is taking mushrooms now - ganoderma and copterlin.

I would like to hear from anyone who has survived long term without the whipple. My husband was dx. in 7/11 and after chemo and radiation  now has a CA19 of 10. No medication now. He is not a candidate for the whipple.
