Celeste, Thank you so much for your response and advice.  My husband told me a couple months ago that he wanted to start making videos for the kids and I totally agreed with him, it has been something I have wanted to do since we first found out about his tumor in 2008.  Unfortunately I didn't help him start making them and I am afraid now it might be too late due to his difficulties with his speech and th...

I don't know what I should be doing for my kids to help them deal with all of this. My name is Tonya, my husband's name is Jason and we are both 34 years old.  We have a 14 year old son and an 11 year old daughter.  My husband (Jason) was dx w/anaplasic astrocytoma in the left frontal lobe in 2008.  He had surgery, radiation and chemo.  Things were fine for about 2 yrs and in Aug of 2011 he ...

Kim, I just wanted to thank you for replying to the post and wish you the very best with your surgery.  When you feel up to it I would really like to ask you a few questions if that is ok. Thanks

Heather, Do you mind me asking what kind of tumor your mom had, and where was it located?  Also, I have a few other questions if you don't mind. where did she go to get it? How long was the training?  Does she wear it for the majority of the day? Thanks for any info, Tonya

I have also read some of the studies about Novocure and they like to use the term "in theory" a lot.  Which in my mind just means that is what they hope is happening, but no scientific proof otherwise.  I plan on persuing the Novocure anyway just because from everything I have read, it doesn't cause any harm and no reports of adverse side effects.  So I figure what is the harm in trying. Thanks for t...

That would make sense that a significant amount of tissue would be necessary to create the vaccine.  I too wish we had know about this earlier, boy if I only knew then what I know now, I would have done a lot of things differently.

This new area is in the splenium/corpus callosum area of the brain and his oncologist says he cannot have a biopsy.  From what I have read, an anaplastic astrocytoma frequently returns a grade higher than the original and tumors in the corpus callosum are commonly a GBM.  He does have a pathology slide from the original tumor.  Could they use that tissue sample to make the vaccine?  Please excuse...

At age 30 my husband was dx with a left frontal lobe anaplastic astrocytoma in Oct. 2008.  After surgery, 6 wks of radiation and 20 months of temodar, that area responded well for about a year.  In August 2011 he had a recurrence and after Avastin, Temodar and proton radiation that area is currently under control. In Feb. 2012 we discovered several new tumors, the one that is most concerning is in the sple...
