There's no way of knowing for sure unless he consults his doctor...Cancer isn't something to play around with by any means. My MIL was diagnoised with throat cancer about a year ago, and hers started with sore throats, and ear pain, as well as frequently loosing her voice, or having a crackled voice on and off. I'm sure symptoms can change from one person to the next, but the safest idea is consulting the dr.!

About 3 months ago my mother in law,age 50, was diagnoised with stage 2 tumor in her throat(partially on her voicebox).
