I know I haven't been on here in a long time. Life circumstances have just made me extremely busy. In the beginning of my mom's diagnosis more than THREE YEARS ago, this place was my lifeline! My mom had an MRI the end of January and everything looked good! Great in fact! There's wasn't even any scar tissue visible. Her energy level isn't what it once was and her thinking gets cloudy as the day goes on. The dr said ...

My mom was diagnosed with an AA 3 a little more than three years ago. (yay!!) Her initial symptom was also a seizure. She was also told she would need to be on the seizure med (keppra) for the rest of her life. Well, she's stubborn. lol.  She found an epilepsy neurologist who did and eeg and said everything looked fine. She could wean off the meds, but not drive for 6 months. That was over a year ago. She's not ...

I'm not sure what kind of infection my mother had after her surgery, but she had to have the bone plate removed 3 months after resection. She chose not to have it replaced. I don't think it's caused any issues other than having to be careful that she doesn't bump her head there. So sorry to hear about your experiences, as if brain cancer isn't bad enough by itself!! Suz, My mother was diagnosed with a grade 3 glioma in Oct 2009 at the age of 57. She is doing GREAT today! If you were to meet her, you'd never know she's dealt with brain cancer. In all the research I've done over the last 2.5 years, young patients with low grade gliomas fare the best, on average. It's still a great idea to be completely on top of things, but I so remember the initial terror and panic of my mom's d...

I think you should definitely get a second opinion. My mom had a grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma removed from the left frontal lobe 2.5 years ago and is doing great today! Janice

After my mom had her surgery, she couldn't talk for a while. It gradually came back. Within two months she was talking mostly normally (you wouldn't know there was a difference if you didn't know her.) Is your friend taking any new siezure medication? My mom also had a horrible reaction to Dilantin and not engaging in conversation was one of the symptoms. She would just sit there and smile at you. Hope you get it f...
