Hi Andrew, It is a scary thing when a doctor states a time period for your loved one. I'm sure that you have picked up a theme from these messages that frequently doctor is wrong. I had metastatic breast cancer last year; the tumor grew in my lymph nodes instead of in the breast proper. I had chemotherapy with the standard drugs plus I chose to use hypnotherapy to help me visualize the cancer cells being killed. Plus I asked many to pray for me and my family. I also had regular massages as a treat since my body was taking such a beating with the chemo. I also had trouble tolerating the chemo; plus I had 5, instead of 4, chemo treatments on a 21 day cycle. The doctor ended up putting me to sleep for 2 days so that I could sleep through the misery. A home health care nurse would arrive a 7:00 am and put me back to sleep on day 2. On day 3 I could begin to eat. After chemo I had surgery and there was no cancer left, just a bunch of damaged lymph nodes. The doctors were very surprised. I tell you this to let you know that the doctors are not all-knowing; the key is the individual and her support network. Bounce ideas off of your mother-in-law and see what she would like to pursue. The more of the whole person you care for, the better, no matter what the outcome. My thoughts are with you and your mother-in-law. --Cheryl

Hi Andrew! I'm sorry to hear about your mother in law, but I also have breast cancer and while undergoing chemotherapy I met quite a few women with mets to the lungs and bones. These women were on Taxol chemotherapy for the bone cancer and took a drug called faslomax for the pain. There is a new drug they're using to treat lung cancer called Iressa, which is supposed to be excellent. It helped a friend of mine who was also given a few months to live, and she's proved them wrong. I know another woman who went to be treated for lung cancer at a hospital at a hospital in Chicago. She was also given a death sentence by her oncologists in New Jersey, and since she went to Chicago, her tumor totally disappeared. You can check out all the drugs I've mentioned above, by doing a search. Good luck and I hope your mother in law makes it! Lauren

My mother has metastatic breast cancer that is now in her bone marrow and a small amount in her stomach lining. Last March the dr. gave her 2 weeks to 6 months to live. Obviously, the dr. was wrong. Anyway, my mother had radiation and 3 chemo treatments and couldn't tolerate it. She was too sick and weak. We turned to another source, coral calcium. There is a method for cancer patients where the patient takes certain supplements for 30 days then the cancer will be benign after that period. Many patients have tried it and had success with it. They can recommend several good natural supplements that fight cancer and have no side effects. The one that we are so impressed with is called MGN3. It kills cancer cells. Don't despair, there are many options now available for cancer patients. May the Lord bless you and bring healing.

Dear AJ, Sorry about your mother-in-law. When you're researching remember that bone and lung mets is treated differently than primary lung or bone cancer. I don't know how extensive hers is. I have breast ca. with mets to the bone and lungs. I have had a great response to a combination of Femara (pill) and Zometa with is given intravenously once a month. Some of the nodules in my lung have gone away and it has so far kept the bone from spreading. Good luck.
