I am 65 and received the exact same diagnosis on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. My cancer markers were 21,000 and my tumor was the size of a grapefruit. I began chemo (gemzar and cisplatin). On March 1, after 2 rounds of chemo, my tumor had shrunk by almost half (orange size) and my tumor markers had dropped to 11. I have had some issues with low white cells but that has been managed with granix and neulasta. Small bouts of nausea have also been easily managed with meds. Also I have been approved for a trial if this course of treatment stops working. I am a high school teacher and have felt well enough to continue teaching other than chemo days. My onconologist has been extremely pleased with my results.

I think in your question you a looking for a long-term predicted outcome that is better than the grim statistics. I can't give you that but I can tell you that your dad has lots of good days to come. My daughter really grieved at first and now she says that I look so well that she forgets sometimes that I have cancer. And to tell the truth, so do I! My best advice is to find a really good oncologist, don't read too much on the internet, and help your dad love every day.

Please get him on gemcitabine/chemo asap. We lost my father last month due to ascites...if its malignant its not great news and no other than chemo gemci or some combo can help control this. I wish you the very best. Also, we did find a v good homeopath in Delhi...incase you are INdia.

Thanks for the reply sir!  I am really happy that you are doing good and your daughter is also feeling better.

Can you tell if you also developed ascites?

My father do not have any 1 big tumor per say so that we can track its size but the ascites is not going. Also what blood marker test you took? Is it Ca19-9 or Ca125?

I hope you get through this strong and you cure it completely.

Best wishes!
