Using Picato Gel on the face

I just wanted to post on this as I researched every post from 2012 looking for the answers on these questions I had and as there is a lot of misinformation on here with alot of people annihilating their skin unecessarily. This is my second time doing it in 3 years , let me say they will pop up again and you just have to treat them when you see them.

1st thing- wash your face and let it dry for 15 min or so. I put vaseline around my eyes with a qtip to prevent any accidently "creeping that way "as I was having to treat in between my eyes. You can probably do this anywhere you dont want it to touch. Apply the gel, I did it in a magnifying mirrror so I could see where i was putting it exactly.

2nd let it dry for a t least 15 min or maybe an hr. or longer if you can handle it My dermatologist said I could put lotion on top of it at that time, something like Cerave or Cetphil is what you want to use. I did not do this but it is an option just so you know. I would say when it really starts burning this may something to do

3rd You can take advil or whatever pain reliever you want to use. I actually used tylenol 3 as I take them daily for scolisis added a few advil in there too. Advil doesnt affect what this medication is doing. The prime object is to get it to soak into the areas that you need it to, so it can kill the cells.I seen a lot of people posting dont use advil because you want the inflammation, once Picato is soaked in there , its in there no matter if you put lotion on top or not or take advil to make yourself more comfortable. I also found near the end of the daily treatment my nerves were on edge from the burning. Xanax or some valium or wine  even  will help with that. I also took zyrtec twice a day. Once in the evening and once at night for itching and any allergic overrload response. I have bad allergies so this is no brainer for me

4th. I used Cetaphil foaming gentle face wash at the end of the 6 hours. Use cold water to take it off, rinse it awhile because of course it feels great ! Do not leave Picato on longer than that thinking its gonna work better, it says in the pamphlet to only leave it on 6 hours, thats it, unless you want to make it all worse unnecessarily. I think your asking for trouble doing that.

5th  after that I take that Cerave lotion and just bath my face in it not once but twice. It a takes a few applictions for it to soak in. Cerave helps to rebuild up your skin barrier.

6th yo u DO have to put it on even if your start to get blisters.

I just want to tell people that you can use moisturiser in between treatments and even while you do it if you need to, just let the medication soak in and dry real good first maybe an hr or two. Vaseline around the eyes help alot too.

Dont annihilate your skin more than you need to.. make it tolerable..this all doesnt affect how the medication works.

The vaseline around the eyes is such a great tip!  I will definitely to that.  My concern with face was I have spot on my nose they biopsied and for sure is AK and am worried b/c it is so close to my eyes. Vaseline makes we feel better if that blocks it from spreading accidently! I am on day 9 of my chest and will do my face next week. Also my derm does a check up at day 10. I am going tomorrow for my chest 10 day check up.

What if blisters open up after day 1?  Continue applying to new, raw skin below the skin that came off?  I'll try to reach my Derm today, but info flow on Picato is poquito...
