I occasionaly get a mouth sore or two, usually on the tongue. I use a good mouth wash and it goes away soon. I hope that is what you are experiencing.

Mark,

Have you been given a clean bill of health?  You are done cooking by this time.  And if, as you say, the original sore was caused by radiation, it is hard to see how it could be cancer this time.  Recurrence after two years is quite rare, especially if your tumor was HPV related.

Talk to your RO about it next week.  If you are having a scan that may show up as something on the scan, because there is metabolic activity there, but your doctor should be able to evaluate it.  You may need to go back to an ENT for treatment, but I'd think you are probably experiencing something else.

I don't know what happened to the reply I wrote, so here goes again.  Sorry if it's a duplicate.

Especially since your original tongue sore was caused by radiation it's highly unlikely that you are experiencing a recurrence of cancer.  And H&N SCC rarely recurs after two years.  Talk to your RO about it.  If it's really bothersome, you may need to revisit an ENT to get some relief of whatever it is.

Best of luck to you,

Susan
