ET and exercise

I have recently been diagnosed with ET with a count just north of 900. Started the Hydrea 2 weeks ago at 500mg, only a small reduction in my count so doubling to 1000mg from now. I am 62 years old and have always been active, being an ardent mountain biker and happier being in some kind of shape! My question is whether I might expect to see an inability to continue as I used to with the biking especially. My onco said that it was not a great idea to go biking in the dsesert where I live on my own, in case something happened to me out there, but I guess the same could be said for any healthy person riding alone.

My question really lies in whether people have not been able to continue with their activities fully with this disease, or whether they have found a workable compromise.

Hi,

I was diagnosed 19 years ago and I kept running and walking most days and still do I am 74 years old and take 2 Hydrea capsules 5 days a week and my platelet count is 300000. I feel that by keeping fit is the best way to tackle disease.
