End of July 2017. Did the radioactive iodine ablation and had the full body scan then as well.

So this was the stimulated Tg at one year post ablation?

What is the Tg level?

This was my 1 year follow up.

They didn't tell me what the levels where, just that they are high.

Not sure what you mean by stimulated. But I did have the thyrogen shots so I wouldn't need to stop my replacement thyroid meds for 3 weeks.

You need to now the level, it's very important.  You want to make sure you follow your Tg history and always have access your Tg history over the long haul.

The thyrogen elevated your TSH level, which is referred to as stimulated.  The professional guidelines recommend a 1 year stimulated Tg after I-131 ablation to get a picture of what's going on when the TSH is not suppressed.

It's important that you know the exact results because who knows what your medical doctor defines as high Tg.

Is it 1.0?  or is it 100?  It's important to know.

good luck!

Thyroglobulin by cia, serum was 18.3ng /ml. According to mychart page.

Yes, that is significant and needs to be watched, but not necessarily recurrence.

Do you have thyroglobulin antibodies?

Thyroglobulin Ab levels are <0.9 iu/ml

alright, so you definitely want to watch your Tg level a few times a year, over time.

it is very possible the level will maintain.

doctors may broach another I-131 ablation...but I would say that is something to take under serious consideration and 2nd opinions.

also, revisiting the first WBS results after the initial ablation.

it's quite possible the Tg level will stay the same for years.

any idea what your Tg is with TSH suppresssion?  Was this your first Tg measure?

This test was done after taking 2 shots of thyrogen so I wouldn't have to be off my thyroid replacement pills.

My past results are Thyroglobulin by CIA, SERUM

11/22/17= 1.9 (3 months after surgery and ablation)

2/20/18 = 2.2

6/5/18 = 3.1

7/27/18 = 18.3

Yes, definitely something to watch.  Some kind of thyroid tissue is lurking somewhere.

You may want to inquire about an ultrasound.  They can look closely at the thyroid bed and lymph nodes.

I would recommend looking over the professional guidelines to help give yourself a "roadmap".

You don't have previous Thyrogen-stimulated Tg level to compare, so 18.3 might not be that high. Just as an example, my stimulated Tg level exceeded 500 while at the same time it was approximately 50 without stimulation. Now that you have an stimulated:non-stimulated baseline of 6x, that changing or keeping fixed will they a bit more in the next round of blood tests in some months.

As already mentioned, I also believe is premature to call this recurrence.
