Sorry to report a stroke

Dear Friends who Share Ess. Thrombocytosis, I am sorry to report to you that after 17 years with E.T., I had a stroke Saturday night.  And I'm reporting it because of a bizarre thing that instead of my "normal" 750,000 platelets, my count was actually downto 200,000.  Yet, I formed a blood clot that went into my brain.  The stroke's symptoms lasted for 5 hours (numb left arm, tingly L. hand, speech problems three times), and then totally disappeared.  I was kept in ICU only 2 days and released less than 48 hours after getting to E.R.  I am so thankful to the Lord for His mercy that I did not have cognitive or physical trouble afterwards. I'm angry at myself (!!) for not keeping up with my baby aspirin (I just take 1500 mg of hydroxy urea each day), and my cholesterol is higher than it should be (I'm almost 66 but it's not dangerously high...which is why I didn't take it seriously...).  Still, I encourage all of you to watch both areas--take your baby aspirin and have your cholesterol checked. I see my hematologist on Thursday and need a lot of answers.  So, just want to let you know what happened since it seems like such a fluke.
