stage 3b lung cancer

My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer back in june and she started chemo/radiation and 11 days of target therapy drugs i July. Her PDL-1 is 95% but the oncologist didn't use immunotherapy. She has two tumors one on in the left side of the lung and one on top of her right collar bone.

Her bio markers on her blood work is normalized... but we are not sure if the tumor has just shrunk or disappeared completely. In 3 weeks she will have her first CT scan post treatment and the doctor says 50% chance she will be cancer free....

but there is one caveat-- the type of cancer that had already spread to her lymphnode will have over 70% of reoccurance rate. This is so upsetting because she is being so resilient through the process and responding so well with treatment. and he didn't give her immunotherapy to at least try to kill off the hiding cancerous cell with her PDL 1 is almost a perfect match??

It's such a blessing with what type of cancer she is responding to treatment. It will be exhausting to think cancer might return every day before check ups. cancer sucks!

Does anyone have similar circumstance? Does immunotherapy works the same at reoccurance?

All the best to everyone.

Angela

Hi Angel.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. How is she doing now?

My Dad was recently diagnosed with the same thing, and he just started chemo and radiation. Any advice?

All the best,

Stacey
