CT Thursday Questions for Tonsil Cancer/Oral Cancer patients and survivors

Hi,

My history is I am a 33 yr old female. I was diagnosed with oral thrush in June 2018 at 7 months pregnant. I was on nystatin oral mouth wash swish and spit 3 times and after giving birth August 31st I was given nystatin oral mouth wash swish and swallow. During the whole time I had a hairy feeling in my mouth like I was swallowing hair. I saw a few ENTs for my oral thrush but was never swabbed. Anyway about a month ago I noticed difficulty swallowing on my left side, ear pain, and sore throat on left side. I still feel the hairy feeling as well. I just saw another ENT. He did say he saw a little swelling in my left tonsil compared to my right but nothing to be concerned about. He saw white patches on my left tonsil which he felt was thrush.. He swabbed the area and prescribed me Diflucan (on day 5 out of 10) not really seeing improvement. I notice when I breathe I can feel something in my throat (like I'm feeling my tonsil). I get burning sensation in my mouth sometimes too and feels weird to swallow, plus the ear pain that comes and goes. I also noticed a white mark slightly elelevated on my jaw line behind where your wisdom teeth would be. Just noticed last night  because it hurt there when brushing my teeth. My ENT obviously didnt see this new symptom. My ENT did prescribe a cat scan he said to help reassure me that I am fine. It is scheduled for Thursday and I am a nervous wreck. Will a CT scan show cancer if I have it? I have been a giant mess especially with a 2 month old at home. It took 5 yrs to conceive our miracle and I want to see her grow up. Those of you with experience or people who know people with experience do you think I may have tonsil cancer or any oral cancer?

Thanks

-Lauren

Just wanted to send ((hugs)). I’m in a similar boat. Just had my CT yesterday but haven’t heard anything yet. I think the biggest difference for me is I have 2 palpable lymph nodes (on either side of the neck). They are seemingly moveable and maybe 1 cm. My CT was also ordered for reassurance but my ENT didn’t feel the enlarged nodes, those cropped up (or I first noticed them) between my ENT appointment and my CT. I also have little ones at home so I’m a mess.
