Hey guys,

Hope you're all donig well.

Just a quick update. We met with my dad's oncologst today and his CT scans were all clear. He said that CEA levels usually go up during chemo so he doesn' ive much credence to that until the treatment is done. He has 2 more cycles left and will be done on March 20th.

Thanks for all your well wishes.

Hi guys,

Hope all is well with you guys.

So, my dad has his last chemo this week but I noticed that he's lost close to 5 kg since the start of his treatment, from 64.7 to 60.0 over a 6 month period. As far as I can tell, his diet has been pretty stable all throughout and he doesn't really have much issues with his bowel movement. He does exercise but not to the point that he over strains himself. I guess my question is, is it normal to lose weight even though his lifestyle has been relatively unchanged?

Thanks

Happy St. Patty's day!

Hello

Yes, I am a stage 3 colon cancer survivor. 5 years this week. I went through the FOLFOX treatment. 12 treatments once every 2 weeks. Had the neoropathy in hands, feet, wore gloves near refrigerator. No cold foods either. Yes, treatment was hard but I sucked it up and took it all.  For past 5 years I got a colonoscopy every year. Dr. found polyps but all benign. Had CAT scans every year as well. All ok. This past Wednesday I had a colonoscopy and Dr. told me I can wait 2 years now for the next one. I am so glad.  Only bad thing with the chemo is I lost a lot of my hearing and now have to wear hearing aids. That and had cataracts removed from my eyes. Other than those two things. Im good. It wasn't all easy but hey, I survived this long. Good luck!

I've lost weight both times I had chemo. I had it for 6months with ovarian stage 4 in 2000 and 6 months of it for colon stage 3c in 2018. I tell people it's an effictive weight loss program, but one I wouldn't recommend.

Hi,

It's great to hear you're doing well 5 years in. My dad had his complications as well, the worst being an early onset of pneumonia 2 weeks after his chemo was over. He has his CT scan appointment 2 weeks from now and his colonoscopy in September. I just hope all goes well. His CEA levels are decreasing but they're still relatively high. It was around 4 before his surgery and then went up to 9 during chemo. A motnh after his treatment was over, it went down to 6. I heard it's not a very reliable indicator though. His scans have been normal so far.

Stay positive and keep up the fight.

Wow,

You're a trooper to have gone through this twice. And yes, it's a program I wouldn't reccommend to anyone.

Keep us updated on your progress.
