Hi,

Thanks for letting me know and I will certainly ask my oncologist about getting him on maintenance chemo. My dad has limited his sugar intake and we're keeping him as active as we can.

It's amazing the support we get through this forum.

Thanks again and keep up the fight.

I had surgery for IIIB 3 years ago. Right side 12cm tumor. The doctor told me I'd had it for years. She was a great surgeon. She removed over 70 nodes and only one was cancerous, so I was lucky. The tumor was large but pretty well contained.

I did Folfax for 6 months. That was hard. I didn't react well and had to have drugs to increase my white blood cells. Fortunately I live in Canada and the health service was stellar. So grateful. Still have neuropathy in my feet, but over all my nerves are very gradually rebuilding.

I seem to be clear. I exercise regularly. I keep my weight down. I don't smoke or drink or do drugs. I stay calm and meditate. I don't worry anymore. Life is too precious to waste it worrying or getting angry about transient stuff. I think worry and stress made me sick in the first place.

My heart goes out to those of you who are still undergoing treatment. Go easy on yourself. Stay out of the cold and wind. I laid very still and didn't eat for days during chemo, but I got through it. You will too. You're difficult time will pass and you will be happier and more appreciative of life afterwards. The illness taught me wisdom. Don't worry. It will pass.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your support and congratulations on your recovery. The latest scans seem to show everything stable. His liver, pancreas and lungs are fine and he did have a colonoscopy a few months back. We try to keep dad as active as possible and stay posistive but it does take its toll at times. You can't hide these thoughts completely but we do try to stay optimistic. Thank you so much for your kind words and I wis you the best of luck with your recovery.

Thank you

I asked for the test before starting. Thank you! What were you treated with instead of folfox? It helped you...maybe it will help others. Wishes of continued good health!

Hey,

I don't know if your question was directed to me, as my dad was treated with a combination Folfox and Leucorvin (not sure of the spelling) for his chemo.

I think you were referring to the maintenance chemo mix a user had poted before. And that is a good idea, just not sure why our oncologist hadn't mntioned this to us before.

Thanks and well wishes.

Just wanted to see how everyone was doing, been quite a while.

My dad just came back from his appointment with his oncologist and it seems that he's doing fine. His CEA is stable and his CT scans came back as normal as can be. Thanks for all your best wishes.

Stay healthy and strong,

Glad You're Dad is doing fine! My CT on 2/8 came back fine also, colonoscopy on the 11th was completely negative for cancer! My last appointment with my oncologist was about a month ago, I explained my bathroom issues, and I am not exagerating, 20-30 times a day, every day. He ordered the colonoscopy. Turned out that the operation 8+ years ago left enough scar tissue to close things off to a small opening. I gave some, but not a good deal of thought to stool softeners after what I was going through! I'm open to any suggestions from anyone that has gone through this experience.  Thanks,  Dave

Glad you're doing good. Apologies for your bathroom issues but Im unable to help you on that front. Hope someone on this thread can help though.

Just wanted to tell everyone to stay safe in light of everything that's going on. Stay safe and be positive.

God bless.
