Very painful gas and bloating after reconnect surgery

Hi, I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer October, 2017. Been through the chemo, chemo radiation and 2 surgeries. One for the ileostomy and removal of part of the colon and then second for the reconnect. I thought the recovery for the reconnect was going to be a breeze. HA!! Joke was on me. This has been a horrible experience. It’s only been 7 weeks since the surgery so maybe I’m just being a crybaby. I think I have the diarrhea under control. Thank goodness for Imodium. Still going several times a day and it’s quite urgent sometimes. Thank goodness for Depends!! My problem now is the gas pains in my upper stomach area. Feels like someone is stabbing me with a knife just under my rib cage. I’m experiencing this almost every day. They start out weak in the early afternoon but really come on strong in the evening. By bedtime, I’m in the bathroom vomiting and not by choice. Vomiting does seem to relieve the gas, bloating and pain. Was instructed by a Resident Doctor to continue taking Gas-x and watch what I eat. Gas-x is not offering any relief. Has anyone out there experienced this kind a gas pain before? What was your remedy? Thank you, Beckstyr66

My husband is having serious gas and bloating issues, he gets temporarily relief though having slippery elm capsules, ginger tea , massaging his tummy gently with olive oil, smooth move herbal tea

I had bad gas after my bowel reconstruction surgery, that lasted about a year.  I also got very bad diarrhea, I ended up taking Opium Tincture and it took care of the diarrhea, it also helped with the gas. Hope this helps

I get the Tincture through my Dr.  It's a controlled substance and expensive, but it works.
