Fna

Hi,

I'm a 27 year old who had an fna biopsy yesterday.  My nodule was found by accident while scanning a swollen lymph node that no doctor could feel. It's very small, .05 cm that's hypoechoic with irregular borders. It's in the left lobe deep in my thyroid. I'm very concerned and just a nervous wreck. How long so typical fnas take? I've heard hypoechoic nodules are commonly malignant, is this true or is it sizing? Thank you

Hi. Sorry you had no replies to your concerns. I am in the same situation. I just received my result, which only took two days. I hope you have answers by now? Hypoechoic is one marker but on the upside your nodule is small so I would say it was caught early? I am now waiting... 3 more weeks ugggh to see the surgeon. I am 61 with Hashimoto's so I am guessing I will lose my thyroid. It is terrifying. I have good days and then my mind wanders to the negative. Best to you!

While anything can turn for the worse, the nodule size is so small that unless it starts growing faster, you would be 100+ year old before it would become a threat.

I sure hope you are right. Mine is 1cm so hopefully, it has been correctly diagnosed and is the beginning and the end.
