my mum had cancer,it was removed.. just incase she had any cancer cells she was given a chemotherpy tablet - capecitabine - we was told about side affected and took it all on board. The treatment started on the Friday 25th jan 2019. sunday mum was feeling sick, started the anti sickness tablets.  monday no change.  tuesday her bottom left side lip had swollen, called the 24 hour helpline the hospital had given her, they suggested to call her local gp. only to be told she wouldnt get an appointment till the next day.on wednesday i took mum to her g.p he gave her something to take the swelling down.. the next day thursday mum couldnt swallow. I called 111 an ambulance was sent.. mums blood pressure was low so they took her to the churchill in oxford, she was admitted at 11am thursday 31 jan. she has slowly got worst, she has ulcers in her mouth and all through her body. they tell us she is going to get worst, she has low plateles and white blood cells, my mum has an condition called DPD enzyme deficiency..we are told that icu are aware of her, and she is likely to end up there, as a family we are really worried. has anybody been throught this? and can help us as a family.

My mum had been given blood transfusion and platelets.. the drug had got into her blood and traveled to her major organs. Her kidneys were trying to fight and brake the drug down.. it had also got into her bone marrow and her stem cells werent reproducing.. the doctor tried everything the could, but sadly my mum passed away on the 14th Feb 2019.. as a family we are broken.. she tried to fight but was never going to win the battle!!
