LAR surgery after colostomy reversal

I have a colostomy at the moment after having a good portion of my rectum removed due to cancer.  I really don't like the pouch and the maintenance that goes with it and am preparing for reversal with LAR.  I am wondering if your pre cancer bowel movements have any bearing on the post surgery bowel movements.  I am not a big pooper now, I really only go every couple of days and only in the morning.  Also, I enjoy a glass of wine with dinner and a couple of beers during a football game.  How disasterous can that be?

Any insight would be more than welcome.  I am torn on changing something I know I don't like for something that could turn out to be worse.
