Brother with GBM

Hi, I can’t believe I’m writing this now but 6 years ago in Feb 2013 my brother then 46 was diagnosed with stage IV GBM and given 6 months to live. It’s amazing he’s had 5 1/2 years fully functioning and was considered in remission until a recurrence that is inoperable 8 months ago. He underwent radiation in December and his first MRI showed stable. His second shows slight progression. He is on avastin monthly. He’s gone through every treatment available and they are saying there is nothing left for them to try. Over the past month he’s lost use of the left side of his body but mentally he is ALL there. We thought it was from coming off steroids but NO (at UCSF) feels it’s from the tumor. What would we see from this point going forward if it keeps progressing? We are so grateful we’ve had all this time with him but want more. Not ready to lose him. I think I know the outcome but you never know....he’s beat the odds before.

I am so sorry to hear about your brother's decline. How incredible that he has had 5.5 years! Though, I know that it never feels like enough.. This link has been circulating and is very helpful in knowing what to expect. It isn't a crystal ball, but in my FIL decline I have definitely seen some of these symtpoms for sure.

I wish your family all the best, and you are in my prayers.
