49 year old, female - Derm prescribed Picato as treatment for actinic keratosis (AK). Treated everywhere except mouth and chin areas. Have a previous history of squamous cell on my forehead and had Moh’s. Day 1 - I applied the first tube of Picato at 11am even though it states use at bedtime. I started to feel a slight burn within 1 hour. It was interesting that it felt like the burning spread slowly from my nose to my cheeks and then my forehead. By 3 pm my face was on fire (little did I know how it was just a “mild” fire). Just wait until Day 3! I rinsed it off around 7pm. Took Advil. Slept fine. Day 2 - woke up with some mild redness. No swelling. Kind of thought it wasn’t much of a reaction compared to how uncomfortable I was on Day 1. Applied the Picato at 11 am again. The burning started almost right away. Took Advil. Actually had a couple of glasses of wine to help with the pain. Ha! I actually researched that alcohol has been used as a pain reliever for centuries. Rinsed again around 7pm Day 3 - this was the WORST! Again I had some redness when I woke up but nothing major. I didn’t apply until 7pm because I needed to work during the day. All I can say is that my face was on FIRE immediately. I’m pretty sure I paced around the house and screamed out in pain for 6 hours Day 4 - woke up and my eyes and face are swollen shut, blisters, severe redness. I think it worked. Ha! Very itchy. But I can totally deal with some itchiness. Day 5 - today is my Day 5. Still very swollen, red and itchy. Not much change from yesterday. Will post an update tomorrow.
