Rising CA19-9 but clear PET and CTs

Hello, I have had pancreatic cancer twice resulting in the complete removal of my pancreas and spleen along with the removal of the other organs taken in the Whipple. Now 2 years since my last surgery my CA19-9 is rising again (45) but PET Scan and 3 CT are all clear. Has anyone else had this experience? I just don’t know what to make of it and neither do my oncologist and surgeon. I appreciate hearing your feedback and insight. Thanks

Hello to you also, I can tell you I have a couple of clients that have had this happen to them also and there are afew things that can trigger your ca19-9 numbers to rise. You will find that because you are a diabetic these numbers will fluxuate from time to time. Inflammation, fluid in tissues, antibiotics, some suppliments, even drinking tea and acid reflux! Your numbers are still in a reasonably good range, and your scans are great, it's mportant to keep your sugar on track. Try not to worry, your oncologist is keeping a good eye on you!  Everything will be fine!

Blessings as you continue on this journey

Thank you so much for your response. My blood sugar has been a little erratic these past months. I was unaware that other factors, other than cancer cells, could contribute to a rising CA19-9. I have also been taking some pretty strong antibiotics first for a bronchial infection then an UTI. I have otherwise felt great with no loss of energy or weight. Thank you again, your feedback has given me some ease of mind.

Try not to worry Jo'ey,  you have come this far and from time to time, things may pop up to cause your numbers to rise but they will also come back down, you'll see. .
