Incomplete evacuation + diarrhea

Hi friends. Looking for suggestions. Its been 5 months since my reversal ileostomy and I am still having problems with the following:

1. Incomplete evacuation. Yesterday it lasted until 5 am. Today, it is 1:30 am and I have been at it since 8 pm.

2. Anyone taking a combo of imodium and fiber supplements?

3. Has anyone tried Magic Mag powdered Mag citrate to help with evacuation, and then an imodium to stop it?

4. If so, have you had any additional problems with taking Magnesium citrate for complete evacuation?

5. How many months did it take to get back to normal. This situation has really put a damper on my life. Feeling a bit depressed.

i DIDN'T HAVE A REVERSAL BUT DID HAVE ABOUT HALF OF MY COLON REMOVED FOR COLON CANCER.  i NEVER HAD DIARRHEA BEFORE THE SURGERY BUT i DID HAVE A LOT OF IT FOLLOWING SURGERY.  i WORKED WITH MY SURGEON AND i NOW EAT 2 METAMUCIL WAFERS FOR INCREASED FIBER IN MY STOOL BUT i ALSO TAKE 1 lOMOTIL DAILY.  iT HAS WORKED QUITE WELL FOR ME.  iMMODIUM NEVER HELPED MY DIARRHEA.  HOPE THIS IS OF SOME USE TO  YOU.  WHAT WORKS FOR SOMEONE DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK FOR ANOTHER.  GOOD LUCK

Hi Maria - it's been 5 years since my reversal and I still go to the bathroom 4-6x daily, sometimes more.  I get sore after about 2 BMs and put Calmoseptine on.  I take 1 lomotil per day and fiber 2x daily, and I also eat a lot of vegetables.  I have resigned myself to the fact that this is my life and although it does get depressing, I am still alive!

I am 5 years out from treatment of colorectal cancer and still have anywhere between 4-6 bowel movements each morning before heading off to work. I agree with the other posters that lomotil is helpful. one doesn't work for me, I take 2-3 first thing in the morning depending on how loose or how frequent the movements are, then another 2 about an hour later before leaving the house. As for fiber, I have found that Konsyl works to bulk up the loose stool. I don't know if you had radiation, but I call it the gift that keeps on giving. I hope things become a little more manageable for you. It's a horrible side effect but if you are proactive everyday it will be better
