Xeloda / Capecitabine - Generic vs Branded

Hi everyone!

Hope I could get some advice on this -

My father is starting on Capecitabine tomorrow - 1000mg in the morning and 1500mg at night - only to be taken on the days he has radiation treatment.

I just wanted to know if there was any difference (other than price) between the generic and branded version of the drug. Difference primarily in effectiveness and side effects.

Thank you!!!!

Though both Xeloda and Capecitabine are one and the same thing, be it generic or branded and the work they perform is essentially the same but I do not find any harm with going by the doctors choice as the branded drugs have a brand value attached to them and selling counterfeit products in the name of generic drugs is minimal and thus the trust remains intact. I am sure we all wish the best of health for our loved ones even if that means paying a little more than the obvious. I would recommend you to go by the doctor's choice of the drug.
