man thats drastic. is that reccomended by doctor? has it spread that far?

i have a nephew who had cancer on teh side of teh tongue about size of two "chicklets" (gum)

They removed some nerve and skin from his arm to repalce it. Has just the slightest lisp

I had tonsil cancer 12 years ago and was in a support group. An odler woman had her tongue removed. Couldn't understand what she would say and eating for her was a problem.

I hope you'd get one or two more opinions.

Kak,

I know that many people have had partially glossectomies (tongue removal) for cancer, and have had varying success with it.  Total removal is, I believe, done but not common.

I agree with getting a second opinion if this has been recommended for you or someone you know.

Susan
