How Were You Diagnosed With Ovarian Cancer

Hi guys, I came here to ask questions about how you were diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I gave birth in June of 2019 to my second son. I had a very tough pregnancy, and afterwards have had several symptoms that I had dismissed as postpartum issues...until now. For the last 12 weeks my symptoms have been getting more and more severe. It started as SEVERE hair loss, not your normal postpartum hair loss, but I dismissed it. I have had extreme fatigue and depression. For the last 12 weeks I have been experiencing frequent hot flashes where my entire body heats up and my face turns red, then I am extremely cold and shivering afterward. These hot flashes are associated with extreme nausea, though I don’t always vomit. I am having abdominal pain, especially when I need to have a bowel movement. Any time that I need to have a bowel movement it is extremely painful, so I have to go urgently. It almost feels like heartburn, but through my entire abdomen. I have also lost an incredible amount of weight because I have been unable to eat, I immediately feel full. I have been so weak and shaky that I’ve barely been able to function. So I went to my primary care for bloodwork. He took all kinds of labs, and what we’ve found thus far is that I am critically low in vitamin d which explains some of the fatigue. We have also found that my testosterone is at 623, and for reference in a woman my age the levels are supposed to be between 8-48 and 300 for a man my age. So it’s obviously way out of range. We are still waiting on the DHEA and estrogens labs, but he did not order CA125 as far as I know. However he did order a CT of my abdomen and pelvis for next week. For some background info, I am at high risk for both ovarian and breast cancer. My mother died at 48 of breast cancer, and HER mother was diagnosed with breast cancer the same year. My grandmother has 9 siblings and all of them have had some form of cancer. I do not have PCOS or an Adrenal disease, at least I don’t have ANY of the other symptoms, so I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar? I KNOW there’s something wrong, I just want to find answers.

I have had those same strange issues too!  Did you have eeclampsia? Trying to see what we have in common. Happened after I gave birth to my second son too!! The severe hair loss, fatigue,  depression, same not flashes entire body hot,  then extremely cold and shivering too,  extreme nausea. I'm not sure if its caused by something I have and I am being treated for or if its something else, more symptoms that are untreated?? Have you seen a Gasteroenterologist (G. I dr). I have Crohns Disease AND Ulcerative Colitis (rare to have both). I'm wondering if that might be what's causing some of your symptoms?? Please keep me posted. I hope you find an answer and relief soon. I went 15 to 20 years before u was finally diagnosed and treated for my Crohns and UC. Even though I suffered all those years and had all the symptoms. I pray you get well soon ; )

I haven’t seen a Gastro yet, we’re still in the beginning stages of testing. Thank you for all of your info, I will definitely mention when I go back next week. I’m just scared because of my family history, and I KNOW something is wrong. That’s what I told my doctor, there is something wrong with me. I get the rest of the bloodwork back today, and the CT is Wednesday. Hopefully we’ll have more answers.
