I just got my LEEP procedure 3 weeks 2 days ago, for anyone that's going to get this procedure done I HIGHLY recommend getting put under. EVERYBODY is different, I was reading for long about different experiences and how in the office it was pain less and to not be scared so I said okay, I'll go with the in office procedure I'm sure I'm over reacting. I also read about a few people complaining how it was painful and to not believe the women saying it was painless. So I scheduled it for in office went in got "numb" when my DR went in with the surgical instrument it was extremely painful like a 10/10 no joke and I have a high pain tolerance. It was so painful I groaned and tensed up causing my DR to hit my vaginal wall with the surgical instrument hitting an artery. She automatically told me "this never happens we're going to have to take you to the operating room". Luckily the clinic was in the hospital so she put lots of gauze inside my vagina because I was bleeding out. I got wheeled out in a wheel chair to the emergency room, when I was waiting for a room I left a puddle of blood on the floor. Finally got into the room where they were prepping me for surgery I fainted for about a minute due to all the blood loss. When I woke up they put the oxygen mask on me hooked my IV up, literally had 2 needles in each hand. After that they took me to the operating room and woke up in so much pain. For the next 3-4 days I was on Vicodin and ibuprofen, to my surprise I didn't bleed at all after that blood show and to the day (other than my period). My period was on time and was very normal flow for me. I'm 3 weeks post op still having very mild light tan discharge, had my follow up appointment 2 days ago she told me my stitches are not dissolved yet but it's healing and ask for my leep procedure area still needs more healing she said about 1 week or 2, so I made another follow up for march 21. I was so traumatized about the discharge smell because it smells bad so she tested me to see if I had any type of infection and i was cleared no infection at all thank god. So yea I'm not trying to scare anybody just wanted to share my near death experience all because of the leep procedure, please just get out fully under ladies you never know how your body will react.

OMG! So sorry you went through that!  I am having my LEEP this Friday and am very anxious about the procedure.  Didn't like having the biopsy and this is ovbiously more invasive!  My Dr. doesn't want to put me under and doesn't want to give me anything stronger than advil!  I would prefer to at least have something to help me feel calm but I guess I'll have to go to my happy place.  Not looking forward to this. :(  I am also concerned with cramping afterwards.  I usually get very painful cramps and had cramping after the biopsy. UGH

OR HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FOR IT TO GO AWAY?

I had mines done 9/5/18 and I am waiting on my results. I have had abnormal paps for years. But now it's high risk HPV 33 and so forth. Did not have HVP 16 or 18. But I am kinda worried.

Yes my margins came back clear ! Thank the lord !! For the longest time I thought I had a bacterial infection but all follow up appointments I got checked for it and no infection it does smell gross the smell lasted about 2 months for me. Everyone is different though and my healing also did take 3 months super long felt like I would never heal. Don’t forget everyone heals at a different pace.

I had my LEEP procedure yesterday (age 23) and it was a traumatic experience. The procedure itself was fine barely felt anything as they used local anaesthetic. The doc did a great job of calming my nerves and it went smoothly. It took around 10 minutes and then she made me sit in another room and drink something to make sure I was alright after. She called me back in and then sent me away home to rest giving me an info sheet with everything I should and shouldn’t do for next 6 weeks. My boyfriend was with me and he drove me home. On the journey home I felt fine got home relaxed for half an hour and we were going out to the shops and my bleeding was heavy but I wasn’t concerned. I got in the car and I felt my bleeding getting heavier and heavier and I began to worry and told my boyfriend I was worried it had soaked through my trousers but I thought maybe I was being silly. Well when I stood up out of the car I could feel the blood pouring out of me and it had soaked the entire car seat and was running down my legs. I went into panick and luckily my boyfriend was there to calm me down I was loosing so much blood and my boyfriend phoned the hospital they told me to come straight back in and I would be seen in a bit as other patients were there, this made me panick more as I knew I would soak onto the floor. When we arrived (25 minutes later) I had almost passed out and so my boyfriend carried me onto a wheelchair and got me inside. They were expecting me as my mum had phoned them to say it was more of an emergency. The nurse calmed me down and got me to the room straight away and back onto the table where the doctor I had earlier helped me and reassured me. I remember she said this happens to less than 1% of people who have LEEP and she would be able to stop the bleeding. I kept apologising as I was getting blood all over the equipment and bed. They gave me new clothes to change into and she had to redo the procedure there and then but this time took 20 minutes to make sure the wound was closed properly. This time I felt what she was doing as the anaesthetic had worn off but I just wanted the bleeding to stop and it was bearable for me. She monitored me for 40 minutes and then sent me home again. The bleeding has been normal I’d say not light not heavy since. She gave me antibiotics to stop any risk of infection but now I’m worried I strain myself and this happens all over again. Has anyone else had a similar experience or thoughts on this? I was in a lot of pain yesterday with cramping like period pain but worse and took some painkillers too.

Hello I just had experienced basically the same thing today. Really just worried about how all of this will heal and work out for in the future. I am 23 years old. Had the LEEP procudure done in office, had felt a pain aftering the "numbing" and had flinched and tensed up out of instant reaction, causing the doctor to cut my wall in my vagina. I started excessively losing blood. She packed me with many packings (must uncomfortable thing I had ever felt) until the ambulance arrived and rushed me to the er, where I was then put to sleep to finish surgery and have stitches put INSIDE my vagina. This is beyond the mort uncomfortable experiece I have ever felt. A simple procedure that had went wrong. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend that annoyone having this procedure just be put to sleep. I wish I would have known this was an option. I am honestly kind of terrified about the long term effects this is going to have on me, I know having kids is going to possibly be a complication. As far as having sex, which I don't plan on it for quite some time, I'm scared that I will have many complications having sex later down the road due to this surgery.

Oh no I’m so sorry to hear this , when t happened to me she hit my artery , wondering if they cut your artery as well? Get ready for a long recovery cause mine almost felt endless ! For sex I waited 6 months and still my vagina wasn’t ready , recommend you waiting 8 months but who knows maybe you heal faster than I do ?! I also recommend taking some laxatives when I was on Vicodin, iron pills and ibuprofen I got so backed up that I was scared to push just thinking about busting my stitches . I was anemic after my procedure hence the iron pills. If you want more tips or anything feel free to email me would love to help based on our experience being almost identical ! I just read your message. I see it was written in 2011. I had a leep 13 years ago, and another 2 weeks ago. I have been with my husband for 24 years. I have been faithful so I am confuse on why this bad cells keep coming up. I want to believe he hasn't been with anyone during our marriage. We both had sexual partners before meeting each other. Your message spoke to me, and I wonder did you ever found out if your husband was spreading it back to you?
