My husband has metastized cancer of the adrenal glands, does anyone have any information on this topic?? He has been taking Xeloda, and while the cancer has not spread the Xeloda has not shrunk the original site in the adrenal glands.

My heart goes out to you both. I just turned 38 yrs old and I too have metastatic adrenal carcinoma (stage IV -- so the Oncologist say). Unfortunately, I see there's not a whole lot of info on adrenal cancer since it's such a very rare type of cancer (believe 1-3 in a million population). However, the Nat'l Institute of Cancer has more info. I'm currently on Mitotane and have been on it for the past 10 months plus taking herbal remedies for stimulation my immune system and shrinkage of tumor. Praise be to God - it seems I'm heading for 'remission' (something unheard for adrenal cancer). If possible, my opinion is that your husband goes on herbal supplements. Nutrition, strong, strong immune system, and hope and positive attitude - are the keys to fighting any type of cancer. I will be praying for you and your husband. If you would like more info on the "Nature Sunshine Herbals", please let me know. God bless

Please forgive me for the late response. I had trouble logging into the Internet. Anyway, I'm taking "A LOT of variety of herbs". I'll give you just the main one that I know have been helping me, but suggest you speak to an Herbalist (if you wish to speak to mine, let me know. We reside in California). The following are: Flaxseed Oil, Pau D'arco, E-Tea, Vitamin E with Selenium, Una de Gato (Cat's Claw), Vitamin C, Super Anti-Oxidant, Chlorophyll, Milk Thistle, and more (can't remember the other names). Hope this helps. Please do read the book "The Bible cure for CANCER" by Dr. Ron Colbert. It basically mentions all herbs and vitamins, plus gives great hope and encouragement. God bless, Aura

Rare Adrenal Cancer

My Name is Darcie and in December of 2003, I was diagnosed with a Pheochromocytoma, a rare tumor. I did not have it located on the Kidney glands, mine was at the bottom of my Aortic Artery. I have since had the tumor and a paraganglioma tumor removed and so far all was benign. I will have to continue yearly tests and scans for the next five years. Not a whole lot of information on this type of condition other than it is extremely rare.

I've been fighting adrenal cancer for the past four year - in stage IV. So far from my own experience, surgery is the best. I've gone on two types of chemo: Mitotane and Cisplatinum. The mitotane worked for a year and the cisplatinum only for three months. In between, I've had seven major operations and many many biopsies. It's been a year since my last chemo. I know that the herbal supplements have kept my immune system strong to fight this battle. But I also KNOW that my faith in Jesus (and prayers)have helped me tremendously. I recommend a book called: A Cancer Battle Plan by Dave & Anne Frahm. This book teaches about what and what not to eat during this battle. I.E., Sugar is definitely a NO NO. It (sugar) only feeds/stimulates the cancer cells. Plus, that there is hope. With hope....all things are possible! I'll keep you and your husband in my prayers. Blessings, Aura R.

Hello, My name is Billy. I am a 47 year old male who has a recurrent pheochromocytoma in their right adrenal gland. I just had my 2nd surgery in 1 year. The 1st time I had a large tumor in my adrenal gland & they took the adrenal gland & part of my kidney. This year they found 2 large tumors & took 5 metastisized lumph nodes around my veina cava. My oncologist refuses to give me chemo & my immune system is in the toilet. Can anyone help me? I was wondering about radiation They say I am in stage 4. Are there any chemo drugs out there that might help? I know I am in God's hands, but feel I should try to do something. Billy

Hi.  This may not be helpful, but just incase.  In 2002 I had a radical nephrectomy due to renal cell cancer.  No other treatment was done at the time.  Then 4 years later an annual cat scan revealed masses in both lymph node areas of my lungs and on my one remaining adrenal gland.  For nearly a year doctors and pathologists try to determine if this was RCC mets.  Never did get a 100% pathology report, however, I finally got an oral chemo over two months ago, SUTENT.  Had a cat scan to determine the progress and the right lung mass did not grow, the left shrunk slightly and the adrenal mass shrunk quite a bit.  I realize adrenal cancer is different from renal cell carcinoma mets of the adrenal gland....but it can't hurt to inquire. God Speed,

Hi Billly, I too have cancer in my adrenal gland, it was the size of my kidney, I am currently on a clinical study at MD Anderson in Florida, I'm taking Carboplatin, Taxol, and Avastin (or a placebo, but with my side effects I'm having, my doctor believes I'm getting Avastin)  Anyways, I just had my sixth treatment, which July 3rd I have another CTscan and MRI of the brain.  But after my 2nd treatment, the cancer in my adrenal gland had shrunk down 1/2 the size as it was before, the cancer in my lymph nodes behind my windpipe are gone and the spot on my lung gone as well.  I don't know why your doctor isn't going to give you any  treatment, maybe a second opinion might be your next option.   Good Luck to you and I'll keep you in my prayers.
