Supplements during radiation?

I have had a lumpectomy of grade 1, stage 1 breast cancer, 1.2 cm. I am about to start a five-day course of accelerated partial breast irradiation. I take a lot of vitamins and antioxidants, and have done a lot of reading about nutrition to fight cancer, inicluding Patrick Quillan's book, "Beating Cancer with Nutrition." I'm concerned because my oncologist told me I must stop all supplements on the day radiation begins and remain without them for two weeks after the week of radiation, total three weeks without supplements. But Quillan says supplements not only protect healthy tissue, some of them also increse the cancer kill rate. Does anyone have any experience with this conflict? I'm just not sure what to do.... Thank you for any input. Best to all.

My radiation oncologist told me the same thing. Radiation therapy is considered an antioxidant and theoretically patients do better with it if supplements are stopped during the radiation treatments. I followed the doctors orders and have had a significant reduction in the size of my NSCLC tumor...
