Please read...I need help!

My sis was dx with MM last October.  She started treatment in Nov with rev/dex.  She was preparing to begin SCT process but had to get second opinion for insurance purposes.  The doc she met with was concerned about her lymph nodes and spleen so he ordered a CT.  Well the results showed an 11 cm mass on her left kidney.  In May, she had her entire kidney removed and was told she has stage 3 kidney cancer.

Well, after being off her meds for a short time, she has begun the SCT process again which inlcude a series of tests.  On Friday, we met with the doc and found out that she has nodules on her lung.  There are several of them and also her white blood count is only 1.4.  The doc thought maybe she has been sick but my sis has felt just fine.  They want her to repeat the CT in 6 weeks to see if there is any change because the doc said they are too small to biopsy right now.

My question is she is scheduled to be hospitalized on Sept. 16th to begin her chemo for the stem cell collection, do you think she should proceed with this process? I am worried about her going through this rigorous procedure and then discovering the nodules on her lungs are mets from the kidney.

As you can tell.....I am not too positve, neither is my sister.  I swear since she has begun this process she has encountered one bad break after another.  Its hard to stay positive when you are shot down so many times.

Thanks and God Bless!

I would take your doctors advice. They found many MANY nodules in my lungs when they found my head and neck cancer 18 mos. ago. I have had several ct. scans since then and the nodules have not changed, therefore they are considering them benign. Nodules can be caused by many things, not just cancer.

God bless,

Rick

Sounds like she is a lucky lady to me, she has a wonderful sister helping her with this nasty disease. Sharee After you share a good cry , get up, brush the dust off and keep on in the fight. Remember there is no other choice.

As a cancer patient myself I can share the most important part of my treatment. It is that I am  a cancer survivor!  With the help of my loved ones, neighbors, friends and church family every day is a new day. Please remember that. If you have any concerns about the treatment do get second opinions. There is a new sun coming up tomorrow, help her to enjoy it as best as possible.
