extra lymph nodes involved; Whipple

My brother (39) is going to have a Whipple surgery for duodenal cancer. There are local lymph nodes involved that would be removed in a Whipple in any case, but there is also involvement of lymph nodes further away--they mentioned the celiac lymph node. They are doing chemo before the surgery to get as much of it cleared up in these lymph nodes. My question is: can they also take out these more distant lymph nodes during the surgery, or would it have to be a different surgery, or is it possible that some lymph nodes (like the celiac) simply can't be removed, or are inaccessible to surgery?

Thanks - Jon
