I dont know a lawyer at this point but we should find one.

One place to start in terms of a law firm is to look for a national firm that has handled other class action suits. There is a big class action suit right now for wire mesh that was implanted for things like hernia repair. For those interested in pursuing this some online research would probably reveal some law firms. The University of Rochester has information about 2300 participants that were in a 30 year follow up study. I posted information about the study in previous posts. One thing that might be helpful for this group is to have a database of names, addresses, emails so we know who is here. And Brenda, if you are still hanging out here it would be helpful if you shared any conclusions or research that you have found. The U of R study did reveal that there was an increased risk of breast and thyroid cancer in those who radiated. The study followed a child that was radiated and a sibling that was not. If there is enough interest in pursuing legal action we should form a committee and start researching law firms. I would be willing to help. If a law firm feels there is enough money to be made they will do a lot of the research. Joyce

Hi Joyce,

Everything you said sounds very good.  The next class action law suit attornies I see on TV, I will email you or even call them. If I call, I will ask what do we need to file.  U. Of R. is a good start.  I have 2 sisters,3 brothers and they did not have thyroid or any type of cancer. Do you know how many people are following Brenda?

I will let you know anything I do to proceed with this matter.

Yes, I would be interested in forming a group.  i have posted before on this site.

I have no health problems at present, but I will have my thyroid scanned as soon as possible.

If someone wants to start a group I will be happy to give all my information.

I, too, would be interested in forming a group or registration of recipients of infant thymus radiation. I was radiated in 1944 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I've had 4 different primary cancers since then. While I'll always be grateful to all the docs who've kept me alive, after reading some of these posts I realize how devastating the medical costs must be for those without insurance, or whose ins. doesn't cover some of the bills. So, yes, I would do whatever's helpful or necessary in investigating the possibility of a class action suit. I live in Hawaii but with electronics today, I'm sure we can all provide information to the attorneys remotely. I don't think class-action attorneys would work from here; better from the mainland. Let's keep this idea alive. How can I help?

OK FOLKS,

I HAVE TAKEN IT UPON MYSELF TO EMAIL TWO MEDICAL CLASS ACTION SUIT LAW FIRMS. ONE OUT OF LOS ANGELES, CA AND THE OTHER IN CHICAGO, IL. BOTH VERY REPUTABLE FIRMS FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ON LINE ABOUT THEM

THE ONE IN CALIFORNIA IS CALLED GIRARDI KEESE LAWYERS, AND THE ONE IN CHICAGO IS CALLED CLIFFORD LAW OFFICES.

IF EITHER OF THEM CONTACT ME, I AM GOING TO FORWARD THEM THIS WEBSITE SO THEY CAN VISUALLY SEE THE PROBLEMS WE ALL ARE EXPERIENCING AND I WILL TRY TO COPY AND PAST THIER RESPONSES TO ME TO THIS SITE.

WHAT WE NEED TO DO IS TO START MAKING A LIST OF ALL OF OUR TRUE NAMES, ADDRESSES, AND PHONE NUMBERS FOR WHEN AND IF EITHER OF THESE OR OTHER FIRMS DECIDE TO TAKE OUR CASE. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THING... BEST WISHES TO ALL.

I have somewhere the published research from the U of R which I could send to you....somewhere here in these messages I posted a link to the study. The one issue we have is that there is not a big company to sue, like there can be with drug companies...lawyers tend to go where the money is.....but it is definitely worth investigating. Thanks for making a move.....let us know.... Joyce

I am one of the early persons who posted a concern.

After all the posts and updates, I need to add an update.  After having problems with my thyroid, I saw a specialist where I was diagnosed with 5 nodules and a goiter. They were removed and all turned out to be benign.  Am on thyroid meds.  The doc still checks me for reoccurence.
Interesting posts folks. Good luck to everyone.

Hi Judianne:

I'm one who had this radiation in 1940-41 I believe.

It was the state of medicine at that time.  That's why it was done to so many.  I have not had any bad consequences from it-ie-thyroid cancer, etc but even if I had I would not be suing someone at this late date.  Most people involved are probalby long gone and I suspect there is a long ago statute of limitations on things like this.  Just my suggestion,  get on with your life! Assuming you are still alive.

All the best,

Barry

PS-my father was a heavy duty lawyer!  I'm a dentist.
