I don't have any personal experience with this Stuart since I've only done alternative therapies but a Google search brought lots of positive information about the benefits of using Pycnogenol as adjunct therapy with radiation as well as chemotherapy.  Here's just one of the most reliable links I found      http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18927527

Hope this is helpful

Since I'm now seven years past diagnosis I am in the maintenance stage of my protocol and since we consider cancer to be a chronic disease much like diabetes, I shall probably follow this maintenance schedule for life.

I still take a lot of supplements daily.  Most are meant to keep the immune system strong.  What supplements I take are determined by  blood work which shows my own particular deficiencies  at any given time and also the recommendations of my Doctor who diligently researches scientific studies for proof of the immune enhancing properties of certain vitamins and minerals etc.

When I first began treatment I did weekly intravenous vitamin C treatments.  On my maintenance schedule I now have one iv treatment once every six to eight weeks.  I use high doses of lypo-spheric c daily.  I was also given a strict diet to follow which I still adhere to although I'm a bit more lax about it at times now.  If you'd like a list of the supplements I took or continue to take, along with links to reliable information about their efficacy, and/ or the diet,  let me know and I'll send that info along via e mail.   It's lengthy and this board's automatic spam filter tends to intercept those types of messages so I never know whether they pass forward or not.  I tend to give high doses of vitamin c a great deal of the credit for my return to good health so re that, hopefully the following links will post.   There is lots of excellent information in the group of videos presented by Dr. Thomas Levy who is recognized world wide as an expert on the efficacy of vitamin c in the treatment of many diseases including cancers.  The first video is a presentation made by Allan Smith of New Zealand who was brought back to good health from impending death once his family were able to force his doctors to agree to give him intravenous vitamin c treatments. They actually had to involve their lawyers. ( His leukemia disappeared along with the life threatening pneumonia.)

Sheila - Great info and advice. The vitamin C in theraupeutic amounts is very beneficial. I too advocate using liposomal vitamin C; many get confused and take ascorbic acid tablets and think they are getting large amounts when they are not. People need to be well informed.

Pycnogenol has been used for years for the immune system and does a good job. There are many things that support the immune system, some better than others, pycnogenol is high on the list.  All these supplements are good and you need good support in developing good adjunct treatments or therapies to make your cancer fight one that is well rounded and strong.

Sheila

Are you still there? I would love to see your list of supplements. I have a rare leukemia and am trying to battle with diet, supplements and Care Oncology Clinic metabolic targeting repurposed meds which I "watch and wait" for my blood counts to change.

thanks

Susan
