Anyone have tear duct surgery?

One of my ongoing problems after TT and RAI, has been my tearing eyes. The tears spill over, run down my face, and make it impossible to read (like reading through a glass of water). I have seen four opthalmologists none of whom have any idea as to what is going on...now I am going to make an appt. with a specialist in tear duct issues. By the way, none of the opthalmologists suggested I see a specialist! I had to ask and find a name of a specialist myself. My question is this: if you have had any tear duct issues, please share with me your experiences. If you have had the surgery for opening the tear ducts, or surgery for reconstruction of the ducts, please share. Also, what tests, if any, did you have to do first? Please give me names of your specialist...I am willing to travel. If you feel more comfortable giving me the names privately, please do so. Any words of advice would be appreciated...and I thank you. By the way, my eyes have been tearing for over a year. BJ

hello.  Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth.... I am 3.5 years out from RAI and (I think) more importantly, 1.5 years from my last scan and my eyes are suddenly better.  Very few occurances (knocking on wood while I type).  Hoping for same for you.  good luck.

Thank you for the encouragement. I have gone through three unpleasant diagnostic tests for the tearing. The surgery sounds risky and awful...and there are no guarantees (*oh boy!). I am now using cortisone drops, which carry risks of their own... I need some input so I can decide. Thanks for helping. Good Luck....
