I want the thread to be aware that Cancer Compass is soliciting suggestions on how to improve the thread software. I had been wondering when they might upgrade the functionality of the software. Yet, for some unknown reason they have not posted to all of the threads a request to provide such suggestions.
Here are a few of my ideas for software improvements:
-allowing for collapsable threads (This would allow for parallel conversations and promote a sense of intra-thread competition.),
-allowing ratings for posts (up votes, down votes, emoticons, etc.),
-including a search feature,
-giving posters their own blog space from their user page,
-having a download feature where an entire thread could be downloaded, and
-giving posters the ability to make annotations to the thread {A great feature would be to allow posters to create an index in which they maintained a time series for the highs and lows of the thread. Readers could then click on this time series to see a particular post. This would help highlight the most important information on our thread. Without such organization our thread has become increasingly difficult to follow.}
Any other suggestions? Please post them!
This is a great time to express our gratitude to Cancer Treatment Centres of America for hosting this forum and this thread and allowing posters freedom to post comments that from time to time might not align with their organization's self-interests.
Cancer is a very frustrating subject to post about as only glacial progress occurs with the passage of time. Nonetheless, I hope that through Cancer Compass permitting our posts to reach this thread, our comments will be of value to cancer patients in need.
