Question about ca19?

Hello I've been on gemzar/abraxane for the last 2 months and my ca19 was down to 9.6. My doctor by accident took my ca19 the next week, only a week apart from each other and it jumped to 17.6. Should I be concerned??

Hi,  I had this same question a few weeks back as my husband's numbers went up too.  What I was told was that the increase was not much (only 20 points higher) and that it will fluctuate and when it is taken just a week or 2 apart, you really can't stress since it will fluctuate.  I was told to wait until the next result and if it was still higher, then it could be cause for concern.  I hope that helps to alleviate your concern somewhat.

going up 20 points is no biggie but....doubling up is no good. and it is almost doubled but that is not a correct CA19 taken with in 2 weeks sometimes it goes up and down. Try not to worry CA19 doesn't mean the tumors grew but the chemo might not be effective and they would switch to something else that works.
