I have been having problems swallowing for the past month and have seen my Gastoenterologist two weeks ago and now scheduled for a scope on 17 July to see what, if anything is going on. I am at 5 1/2 yrs. since surgery and 6 yrs. since being diagnosed. My symtoms are being horse, trouble swallowing, reflux, hiccups at times and some minor weight loss. I will post the results this Wednesday, unless I have to wait if samples are taken. Please keep me in your prayers for they work. Phil A.

I was told that narrowing of the join can occcur even after several years, you might need a dilation.  I was diagnosed 2nd October 2006 and surgery 9th February 2007 so very close to you in terms of diagnosis - I had a total oesophagectomy.

Phil, I'll be praying for you also. I was dialated twice.  Hiccups?  My husband laughed at me today because I had hiccups all morning.  Let's pray your symptoms go away.

I had the scope done this morning and left there at 8:15 a.m.and the following are the results: Esophago-gastric anastomosis was found, then LA Grade A reflux esophagitis and one gastric polyp, tissue, was removed this was biopsied. A nodule was found in the duodenum and this was biopsied. My meds which is Prevacid was immediately doubled to twice a day indefinitely. I will have the answeres to all of this next Tuesday afternoon. I looked up most of this but I will leave it to the Doctor's for the answere. Thanks to all my friends on the board, now its waiting time again, so what else is new with EC. Take Care and GOD Bless.  Phil A.

I'm glad this is over and they did not find anything really terrible yet.  I looked up anastomosis and it is a surgical connection between two structures.  So that sounds pretty normal.  The polyp can occur anywhere so let's think positive about that one.  The only real uncertainty is the nodule.  I am praying that it is completely benign and will cause no future problems for you.  You have enough to deal with with the low blood sugar and reflux, etc. etc.  I wonder if the removal of the polyp will help swallowing.  Did they stretch the esophagus?  I had mine stretched twice and it did help the swallowing each time.    Well, only God knows what the future will hold.  Hang on to faith that He will compete the healing.  Looking forward to hearing on Tuesday.  God bless you and give you strength.
