Lost My Best Friend

My best friend and husband has been battling pancreatic cancer since September 2009, but he became ill quite suddenly on Thursday.  After getting him to the emergency room we learned that what had started out as a minor cold had very quickly turned to pneumonia and he was becoming septic.  His wonderful oncologist and a team of doctors and nurses fought to get his condition under control, but despite everything they tried Tommy passed away peacefully a few minutes before noon on Friday.  I am just numb as I prepare for his funeral today.  My house is full of well meaning family and friends, but it still feels so empty.

Every time Tommy and I would leave each other, we would always say "I love you.  I'll see you later."  I was told that I would have some private time with him today to say my final good-bye, but this I will not do.  Instead, I will tell him "I love you.  I'll see you later."

I am so sorry for your loss. You are so lucky that you had Tommy for 4 years. Peacefully is a great way to start your new journey. God bless you SWdeserlover as you too will start a new journey!

When you are up to it I am sure how people will remember Tommy is to know more about his Journey. Treatments and surgery.

God Bless your family,

Cathy xo

Im so sorry for your loss, and I really mean it as my husband is under Hospice Care waiting for the end.  I too cannot say goodbye.  He wa diagnosed in April and it seems like an eternity, seeing him suffer through two rounds of chemo which did nothing for him.  Be stron

swdesertlover,

I am so sorry about Tommy!  I so love how you and Tommy would say what you said to each other each time you had to leave!  I think it is touching that is what you will say to him today instead of good-bye.  I know it doesn't make it any easier for you, but it truly was a wonderful blessing that your Tommy lived for almost 4 years with this demon cancer!  My heart goes out to you and again, I am so sorry for your loss of Tommy!

mamasanta,

I am saddened that your husband's cancer did not respond to chemo and that he is now in hospice care.  Very difficult situation and time for both of you!  You are in my thoughts!

mamasanta,

Stay Strong a caregivers job is the hardest job in the world and yet I wouldn't want anyone else to do it and I am sure you think the same.

God Bless Cathy xo

Dear swdesertlover,  I am so sorry that you've been parted from your beloved husband & best friend Tommy.  And so suddenly. God has called him home. You will see Tommy again, as you say "later" for I too believe he went before you and will make a special place for you "later".  May you find peace & comfort in knowing he did not suffer & linger. May you feel his love surround you, and comfort you. God Bless!  Candy

Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your husband dying. Cancer is just terrible and we seem to be losing the battle on all fronts.

Take care and you will get through,

Best
