Cancer: we Live and Die by Radiation

I bought this book by Drs. Delfino and Day for information about dealing with prostate cancer. The writing is very technical and clearly intended for the more learned reader interested in the statistics that justify or not the use of radiation at a cancer stage. There's lots of references which help me to look up the details of the original studies on the Internet. Needless to say, I am very pleased with my purchase and was wondering how useful other cancer patients have found this book. It just came out in September so I suspect my question may be a bit early.

The book was a tough read.  You hit it on the head when you said it was for the learned reader.  For those looking for more mainstream information regarding radiation and cancer they would be best served going to websites like The Mayo Clinic, WebMD, or Sloan Kettering.  I'd pass on this book.

This is a very good book if you are considering radiation treatment or needing to know more about long term radiation side effects. I can appreciate that some people may find it to be a tough read because it is technically oriented and backed up by facts that are perhaps more geared to nurses and physicians than patients but if you really want to understand what radiotherapy may and may not do for your disease than I would suggest you read this book.
