My husband was in the same situation in May.  He took GEM/CID 4 treatments 2 weeks apart and the next CT was 30% shrinkage.  Then 4 treatments again 2 weeks apart.  CT showed tumor to be as large as in the beginning.  Now he has had a spacer placed between the liver and stomach/duodenum in preparation for proton beam therapy at MD Anderson Houston.  He really did well and had no side effect except for some tiredness from the chemo while he was taking it.  The tumor he is dealing with is 15cm x 13.7

Everyone is so different on all types of treatments.

Hello, This is leonard from Alamo California.

You are absolutely correct when you say everyone is different.

Some may battle this cancer for many, many years and others may not.

I am sure you know the size of your husbands tumor is the size of a large Cabtaloupe...that is very large.

I hope the Proton Beam Therapy helps.

Take care and try and stay positive. It is very hard at times.

Leonard

Dad died Sunday evening Oct 20th. All I can say is.... my father was given 3 months, three years ago. Chemo can provide some time and relief. Thanks to chemo we got 2 3/4 years more than they said he would. He got to enjoy his family a little longer. Just 6 months ago the entire family took vacation together and dad was feeling well. He took a sudden turn in Sept and 6 weeks later he was gone. He leaves behind a wife of 50 years, 4 daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grand children. He had a wonderful life and I miss him terrible!!! Love you dad.

Sandy,

So sorry to hear about your father.  I had been thinking about you.  It's amazing that you can realize that he had a wonderful life, made a beautiful family, and that you had quality time together.  Cherish those memories.

Sending you comfort during this difficult, sad time.
