For people who don't like anectodal evidence Steve Jobs is used constantly as "evidence" that mainstream is the only way to go. The lack of logic and consistency never seems to bother them.  Does the fact that this oft repeated meme is anectodal mean nothing? Nor is it validated. Steve followed protocol - liver transplant and all. Whipple procedure. He used Stanford Cancer Center. This is all provable. So, it looks like mainstream med killed him. Same argument: this is what he did and he died.  This time with facts - but don't let the truth interrupt your delicious rants and be sure your post includes the words quacks, woo and conspiracy. Use of those words is sure to get you the atta boys you all seem to crave so much.

You first post on Cancer Compass and you offer NO information about yourself.  Apparently you aren't aware that this is not a social media or discussion group.  The Cancer Treatment Centers of America created and financially support Cancer Compass for patients, caregivers, and survivors to share medical advice - not your opinions.  As survivors we come back to emotionally support patients and caregivers and provide information we learned during our own fight with cancer.  You are in no way helpful to cancer patients and I have reported you to CTCA as abusing the purpose of this site.

There are other sites where you can go to discuss what you "think" but this is not one of them.

FYI - Steve Jobs at first tried alternative treatment and the cancer was far advanced before he agreed to conventional treatment.

Cancer patients nor their caregivers are not up for senseless arguments - they are looking for advice!!!!!!!!!!!  GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Lisa

At 68 years old, life has taught me many lessons.  I have seen many incidences of someone continuing to fight because a loved one can't accept their impending death.  When I lost my mother, whom I loved so very much, nurses had continued to tell her throughout the day that I was on my way from FL to IL where she hospitalized.  I ran into her room and saw her literally fighting for every breath.  I loved her so much and did not want to let go but it was my final gift to her - to tell her it was okay to go.  She took one breath and left us.

Six months later I lost my husband to lung cancer.  When he tried to talk about what I needed to do after he was gone, I refused to talk about it.  I even told friends the week before he passed away how much better he was doing and I didn't see why he couldn't go on another year.  After he passed away I slowly began to realize what a huge injustice I had done him by refusing to accept the inevitable.  It put additional stress on him emotionally as well as the physical pain he was enduring - all for my benefit.  My constant refusal robbed me of any meaningfully sharing of my final days with my husaband.  If I had that time back I would talk about the good times we had shared and how much I appreciated him.

Even though Jack was on Hospice I was still fighting it even as they delivered supplies.  I remember the driver explaining to me that he had known one person who was on it 3 years even though when referred over to Hospice it generally means a doctor believes they have six months to a year. A doctor is very difficult to get in touch with but your Hospice nurse is only a phone call away.  They can increase pain meds as needed.  Hospice focus is keeping the patient as comfortable as possible AND agreeing to or refusing Hospice will not change the outcome.  They are a terrific orgnization.

As long as there is any chance our loved one can beat the cancer, we fight but my grandmother used to describe death as another stage of life - the final one.

My mother had several miscarriages before finally giving birth to her one and only child - me.  She doted on me and I adored her.  In fact, I still love and miss her.  For the four months she was hospitalized when she was initially diagnoesd, I slept on a pull out chair next to her hospital bed.  The nurses joked that they should share their paycheks with me as I had taken over a lot of her care.  I left the hospital twice in those four months - once to have my car winterized and the second to drive 5 hours to my home to turn the heat on (we had gone from summer to winter).  I had my own business and often dropped everything to be with Mom.  She and Dad were married for 50 years and Dad did everything humanly possible to keep her with us over the next two years but he had to accept when her time here was growing short.  There was no way that Dad or I wanted her ot leave us but we had to accept it.

Pray for God's Will to be done and to provide you with peace upon His response.

i just watched part of a documentary "The Truth about Cancer." You can watch the first two episodes at https://go2.thetruthaboutcancer.com/global-quest/episode-8/? If you have any problems "google it." The 2nd episode i believe discusses use of Frankincence Essential Oil. How one gal cured her brain tumor by using 1 drop under her tongue every 2 hours. You can also do a 1 drop EO to 2 drops carrier oil like jojoba or coconut and rub on the body. Doctors are only taught "maybe" 1 hour of anything natural so they dont know anything when it come to the Natural side! Do yourself a favor and research, watch the videos, and go to natural clinics who have proven tract records of beating cancer naturally, not with standard chemo, radiation (were told xrays can kill us, what do you think radiation is). Suzanne Somers book Knockout is informative as well BUT, most important, watch "The Truth about Cancer!! " there is SO much life saving information there, i know, my breast cancer is going away naturally!!

Hi Lisa,

###### New Year,

I am following a hard act to follow, that being the heart of Diana (Dlynn 1210), so do not expect that my words will come close.

This past year was tough on me as well, having lost my Dad to cancer in March. Before that, and the reason I found this site, was the diagnosis of stage 4 throat cancer in my younger brother Stan in 2013.

Now it is your mother’s turn, if that is the right term, to deal with this modern day beast. So, is it true that our best days are ahead of us? Really, is that some kind of cruel joke? No, it is true.

Diana knows it, and I hope you do as well.

While we try to move heaven and earth to save our loved ones, or ourselves for that matter, we might want to ponder just what that means.

If Heaven is our prize, then what on earth can even compare. Many years ago I had a brief encounter with Heaven. I would have chosen to never return, if I had been given the choice. My sentiment is shared with virtually all of those whom I have read about who have had similar experiences. I say virtually since some saw things which should cause each of us to scream out to everyone in earshot, repent (or as we refer to it today “Change the way you think”) so that you avoid that place at all costs.

But, for those like my Dad who late in life accepted the gift of eternal life, death was the best event in his life. You see, folks in Heaven do not mourn for us, they are too busy enjoying the rewards of their greatest decision.

We mourn because we are left behind, and rightly so. I mourn the fact that I can no longer just pick of the phone and hear Dad’s voice. At the same time I smile each and every time his memory floods back into my mind, such as when I read your heartfelt and very sad post. Dad is having a blast. He is vibrant, healthy, fully engaged, and very busy. The joy that knowledge brings to my being is a hundred times a hundred times greater than the pain of our temporary separation.

I pray that as you attend to your Mom you can keep this close as well. Wish her well in her soon to be new life. And if you are not absolutely sure of her next and final designation do not delay, talk about it today. You will be eternally grateful you did, just as I am every day.

I pray the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you both. He paid the price so that we might benefit. How cool is that!!!!

Clint
