Stage IV NSCLC.  Reading success stories helps but not much at the moment, just learned yesterday.

My hubby diagnosed stage iv nsclc (andecarcanoma) 10/13.  Was suppose to have part of lung removed 1/14 but they found cancer cells in fluid in outside lung lining, drained fluid and did not do surgery.  Started chemo jan has had 4 treatments, just had ct scan and tumor is shrinking.  So get rid of that that's that attitude and fight.  My hubby has maintained an im going to beat it attitude and i feel it DOES make a difference. What treatment are they suggesting.  Hubby is 58 and has diabeties.  What is your age and health.  There are survial stories of 2, 3 even 10 years although a lot of them don't mention what stage they were when diagnosed.  Don't be so quick to feel like giving up.  Good luck.

My name is KimmieAnne and I have Stage 4 nsclc.  I have been on Tarceva 150mg for 7 years now.  I was diagnosed in November of 2003 (given 2-3 years to live), did a year and a half of chemo, 6 months of radiation and took oral tab Irressa (no longer available).  Was prescribed Tarceva 150mg.  Experienced minor side effects.

This medicine is saving my life.

Best wishes.

I am so so sorry; I cannot begin to imagine how you feel. My mom is stage IV NSCLC, 67 years old, and has had various other health conditions including asthma and severe allergies. I see what she is going through, and I can only imagine your pain. You are in my prayers.
