Hello all,

I need an advice: my mother (60 yrs old & healthy) was just diagnosed with NSCLC - Adenocarcinoma stage 3A, she has a small tumor in her right lung and it has already spread to lymph node in the mediastinum.

The surgent is a very close friend of us, he suggest to do 2-3 rounds of chemo and than to see if the tumors shrink and then to do an operation and after that to do radiotherapy. The oncology department on the other hand suggest to do chemoradio treatment and then to operate.

We have to decide as soon as possible what to do and i'm completly lost because I couldn't find any concert researchs about this. I'm a nurse so i understand alittle bit medicine but couldn't make up my mind in what is better. What do you say???

Thanks & best wishes

Rachel

Hello.  My name is Kimmie Anne and I am a 58 y/o female living with Stage 4 NSCLC.  I was diagnosed in 2003 and given 2-3 years to live.  I did a year and a half of chemo, 6 mos of radiation and took the oral tab, Iressa.  I have been taking Tarceva 150mg for the past 7 years and am doing great!  The Tarceva is making history by shrinking tumors in the lungs.  Perhaps the oncologist would consider Tarceva also.  It truly is saving my life.

You are both in my prayers.

Hi - I'll be 59 Saturday, female.  Diagnosed Stage 4 nsclc andenocarcinoma in both lungs with met to shoulder/neck area in Nov 2013.  Never smoked and no 2nd hand.

Started Tarceva 150mg daily in January 2014. Tarceva works havoc on my face, toes, hair, etc.  Also, works on cancer, so I leave it alone and handle the pain and reactions.  Not a candidate for radiation or surgery.

Last CT in March 2014 - no cancer in right lung.  Met on neck/shoulder is microscopic.  Cancer in left lung more than half gone.

Thank you, God and Tarceva.

Ask her onc if she is a candidate for Tarceva.  This is VERY important to get her on it, if she is, before any other line of proceedure.  We do better with it, it seems, if we start it before anything else.

Energy is FANTASTIC.  I ride my bicyle every day and jump on trampoline, also.  Do all my own stuff without asking my family for help, although, they would if I ask.

Also, I ONLY DO ORGANIC FOOD.  Nothing else.  If it is not organic, I don't do it.  Even organic sweets.  At least not for now until I'm through this.  Even afterward - not planning on it.  Cancer LIVES ON SWEETS.  I don't know why they are constantly trying to get us cancer patients to EAT -ANYTHING, THEY SAY.  NO - eat good foods.  Lot of greens, vegetables, berries, nuts, eggs - the whole egg - real eggs.

Please let me know if I can help in any way.
