My father was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer last year. His illness was misdiagnosed for about a month before they found a 1 cm mass at the head of his pancreas. He was 55 years old. He underwent the Whipple procedure following chemotherapy and radiation. April 23, 2014, my fathers cancer has spread to his liver. 3 new lesions in 2 months. We live in New Jersey. Just curious as to any protocols, facilities, diet, anything that may have helped anyone.

Hi,

I am a similar age and had the Whipple last month. I just started the Gemzar routine.  Normally, after the cancer spreads, a more aggressive chemo is used like Folfirinox which often slows the cancer growth.  Has the oncologist discussed different chemo options with you?

Hi, My husband was also diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer on February 28, 2013. He has been on Folfirinox for 19 sessions and Folfuri for 11 sessions. The CT scans in December 2013 and May 2014 are clear and PET scan in February 2014 is clear. This has been a great treatment. Also, he got Neulasta every 2 weeks. Nothing short of a miracle. Good luck to your father. Kat228
