No Pain Mastectomy

I had a MRM and 11 lymph nodes removed 4 weeks ago and have never had pain.  1 sentinel node had cancer cells, the reason for the other 10 removal which were clean.  No reconstuction for me, I'm 79.  No pain with the dye injection - totally pain free.  Puzzles me.  I had drain tubes for 7 days and no pain when they were removed.  I have had 3 aspirations since the surgery, quite a large amount of fluid and believe this last one is the end.  Has anyone else experienced being cut from sternum to under the arm, flesh removed and not felt pain.  Never took medication for this surgery.  I have felt great since the removal of the breast.

I hd a double mastectomy 11 days ago. I am 67 years old and while my pain is not horrible, it is there. I cannot take the pain meds they gave me, I was horribly loopy. So I had to stop taking them two days after the surgery. I can't take ibuprofen, because I have sclerosing mesenteritis so all I could take was Tylenol. It must be great to have no pain. My dad died of stomach cancer and he had no pain. Maybe both of you have/had very high pain tolerance levels.

I had pain first night in hospital from mastectomy and then nothing.  I've had 2 reconstruction surgeries latest April 2014 and only a few twinges of pain.  I think some nerve cells

reconnecting with healing.  No pain is great - some have chronic pain.  We are lucky.

I'm very happy for you and feel badly for those who suffer daily from pain. My pain level in nothing above average as I had full hip replacement 15 months ago and the soreness is finally diminishing. Didn't think it would ever heal. Prayers for all of those who are struggling to fight this disease and hopefully we shall all Heal and overcome.

I'm sorry you are having so much pain and unable to take something for it. I don't believe I have high tolerance for pain as I had a good size sliver removed from my thigh and once the numbness wore off it was like my leg had been cut off. Also 14 months ago I had a full hip replacement and it is just starting to settle in and not hurt. Also had fluid drained from my knee just before we left on this trip. The PA said "bee sting". It was more like a snake bite. I give my surgeon full credit for his skills and gentleness. Never has hurt me even as he did 5 aspirations. If I ever need surgery again, I'll make an appointment to see him.
