My 24 year old daughter has stage IV mestatic melanoma.  She has already undergone 3 Darthmouth chemo sessions.  We just went for a second opinion to a melanoma clinic.  The new doctor states that the darthmouth does not treat melanoma and that she should be on the biochemo.  My daughter was so sick before chemo and has improved alot, so I do believe it has worked.  Has anyone been on the darthmouth?  Can anyone comment on this?

Dear Smurph,

I hope this finds your daughter doing OK. My husband did Darthmouth as a stage IV melanoma patient after two resections of a neck tumor (which came back 6 weeks after the first surgery) and it worked on him. He also did inteferon b for a year and half after chemo. But the Darthmouth regimen did seem to be effective in the first instance.

I can't begin to imagine how hard it must be to be going through this with a child. Please accept my warmest sympathy.
