Hi.

I was diagnosed in February 2011 with Stage 3C metestatic cancer in the sigmoid and through the abdominal wall.

I had 17/24 positive lymph nodes.  Had colon resection and FOLFOX.

I have lived with the terror of this type of cancer and can tell everyone that I was the last person I thought would still be around.

If anyone needs to communicate with me or wishes to share, please let me know.  Thank you,  Donna

Hi Donna,

I'm very glad to hear your positive conditions. My wife at age of 27 is also having stage-4 SRCC, gastric, poorly diffrentiated after almost 2 years. She's been thru 02 big operation, and 8-round EOX chemo last year. But now she's in bad condition and we're trying to do all possible way to cure/keep her longer with us. We're now using Immunity therapy with no chemo, if you or anyone here have other effective treatments please share with us.

Thanks and God blesses us all.

mptk22,

You may wish to look at www.cancerresearch.org for clinical trials for various gastric immunotherapy by cancer type to see if your on track with the variety of options.  I have not taken this route at this time, but I certainly was directed to this by my oncologist (last week) in the event of recurrence.

Also, I changed the ph in my system and stayed away from all junk of all kinds.  No dairy, no meat, no sugar and NO KIDDING.

I ate a plant-based diet (I still do) and ate more greens than you can imagine.  I ate raw cabbage salad (with raw apple cidar vinegar) for two years to help get my colon to work correctly.  Many might think this silly, but I believe it helped my immune system and regardless of length of life, I felt better and continue to feel better on a plant rich diet.

I am not advocating one thing or another for anyone, but just indicating what I did to help myself.

It was obvious to me that I needed more oxygen as well.  I was quite weak but kept walking and breathing very deeply and up hills and went from a cane to 2 miles in two years.

It was expected to survive an aggressive cancer and it isn't always possible.  Many factors are at play as  everyone knows (i.e., surgical margins, cancer type, tumorgenesis, overall health, immune response, stability of the tumor, and more ).

I have no medical background, so this is just my own two cents and if it helps anyone then it was worth writing.

Blessings,  Donna

Thanks Donna for the detailed recommendation. You sure have lots of motivation and determination to help yourself.

I hope everyone here will fight their own war with cancer and win this, ultimately.

Hi Donna, Hope you are all right. Thank you for your information. My dad was diagnosed with the colon cancer stage 4 (signet ring cancer cells) 2 weeks ago in Shanghai China. The tumor was removed last week (about 20 inches through 3 keyholes first failed then C-section). And it spreads to the abdominal wall. He had 25/49 positive lymph nodes, but so far hasn't speeded to liver or other organs. Fingers crossed! I was really shocked and I am going to see him during this Easter holiday. He doesn't know he has got cancer yet, as he is very weak at the moment and cannot receive the chemo treatment. I pray for him everyday, he is still young only 68 years old. I am also looking for some type of complementary and alternative medicines in the uk including herbal, dietary supplements. I wish all the cancer can be gentlely transferred back to the original cells without any Chemo or radio! Best wishes Quinn

Dear friend,

My father was diagnosed with signet ring cell stomach cancer two weeks ago. He is 82 years old. His cancer wasn't metastasize anywhere but only in the stomach according to CT scan. Doctor told me that my father needs to do operation, but after reading all the comments here. Does the operation improve the patient's life span? and the quality of his life? It is hard to make decision!!!Does anybody can shore your or your family member's experience? Thanks.

I was diagnosed with at 45 with Signet ring cell carcinoma June 2014. Had two cycles of EOX did not tolerate it well than I had a partial gasterectomy (1/3 of my stomach removed). Received FOLFOX 4 rounds every two weeks. I am 47 and the cancer has come back to Retroperitoneal and subclavian lymph nodes. My oncologist tells me I am not curable the goal is to control spreading and growth. My oncologist wants to use FOLFIRI. Has anyone had that? My case seems so mild compared to others. Once this type of cancer comes back is it as aggressive as It appears to be?

I had a partial gasterectomy at 45 and I will tell you it was not as easy surgery. This is such a hard call given your father's age. However Signet ring cell is an aggressive growing cancer. If your father doesn't get the surgery it will probably spread rapidly and cause even more problems. If he is operable now I would do it before it spreads to other vital organs in the abdomen. Believe it or not he's very blessed because most people aren't operable by the time it is diagnosed. Johns Hopkins told me getting it before it spreads will increase your chances for a cure. I received 4 cycles of FOLFOX 8 weeks after surgery 4 cycles over 8 weeks. I wish your Dad the best.
