SCLC/PCI

Hello everyone! My mom needs to decide if she wants to do PCI/10 days/once a day. It all started December 2014 to a visit to the ER for chest pain, she does have PE. An x-ray was taken and a bottom right nodule appeared. January 2015 a CT scan of the chest was taken 2.8 mass was detected. February 2015 biopsy was done. The verdict was in SCLC. March 2015 they were able to perform surgery bottom right lobectomy. April 2015 4 rounds of chemo started (standard) which put her in the hospital all 4 times. August 2015 brain MRI, Chest CT scan were performed all clear. Oncologist wanted us to get an opinion because of the NCCN Guidelines stated PCI category 1 is recommended. Has anyone gone thru this and rejected PCI? My mom is 54 years old and I need her in my life.  I feel PCI will just be useless at the moment since theres no mets and theres no gurantee that after PCI they wont appear elsewhere. Your stories and experience will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I was dianosedd with clc this part june and am 60. I am currently in the midst of 6 rounds of chemo and just finished 30 x radiation. I plan on doing the PCI evn thoough I have no mets as a safeguar. I have talked to those who have and those that have not. For me, it will be prevention as cchemo does not pass the blood/brain barrier and I feel that having been through this journey, I will do the whole shebang. But it is a personal decision.

Good luck!
